ARROWROOT has derived its name from its tribal medicine use of healing arrow wounds. Maranta arundinacea, Zamia pumila, and tapioca from cassava (Manihot esculents) are all root sources for arrowroot. Because of its digestibility arrowroot is used as a nutritional food for infants and for people recovering from illness.
