ENJOY SAPOTE

sapote

SAPOTE (Nahuatl tzapotl) is a large soft fruit similar to chico. It has been shown to diminish colon cancer cells. Eating the fruit produces drowsiness as noted by Francisco Hernández de Toledo in the 16th century. The fruit is about 10-25 cm long and 8-12 cm wide. Flesh ranges from pink to orange to red. The brown skin has a texture somewhat between sandpaper and the fuzz on a peach. The fruit's texture is creamy and soft.
