avoid AVOID DPA DIPHENYLAMINE

DPA

DIPHENYLAMINE Most apple growers in the US use diphenylamine (DPA) as a post harvest dip or drench to control apple browning, to preserve fruit color after harvest, and to diminish apple scald. The European Commission asked producers of DPA to prove that nitrosamines (a family of powerful carcinogens as well as other harmful substances) would not develop from DPAs prolonged exposure to nitrogen found in the air. The producers were unable to prove that DPA would not put human health at risk. DPA has been banned in Europe.
