S-adenosylmethionine or SAMe is a synthetic form of a compound formed in the body from the essential amino acid methionine and ATP, energy-producing compounds found in all cells in the body. With PKD one should avoid methionine food sources. Methionine is found in red meat and contribute to heart disease formation.
