ACKEE is a member of the Sapindaceae (soapberry family) as are the lychee and the longan. Ackee Sapindaceae contains MCPG Methylenecyclopropylglycine and HGA hypoglycin naturally occurring amino acids that has been implicated in hypoglycemic encephalopathy.
