CHLORPYRIFOS organophosphate, a neurotoxic pesticide similar to malathion & diazinon. It harms the brains of children causing reduced IQ, loss of working memory, attention deficit disorders. It is measurable in children's brains by MRI. It exists in many common foods & in a measurable amount in humans. The good news is that washing fruits and vegetables can rinse away lingering chlorpyrifos and eating organic can presumably mitigate any risk. People are exposed to chlorpyrifos through residues on food, drinking water contamination, and toxic spray drift from pesticide applications. Farmworkers are exposed to it from mixing, handling, and applying the pesticide; as well as from entering fields where chlorpyrifos was recently sprayed.
